Beacon Bas Little Lady, born November 20, 1955, was bred by Mayfield Farms, Athens, Tenn., and sold in 1964 to Mayfield Dairy Farm Inc., Athens, Tenn. She died December 31, 1974. Her DHIA/DHIR lifetime production totaled 197,750 lbs. milk and 9,549 lbs. fat, with average daily production of 44.8 lbs. milk and 2.2 lbs. fat. She placed third for milk and fat in the 1971 Living Lifetime Production Contest. "Little Lady" was the winner of the 1963 National Milking Derby. In 1971, she was voted fifth in the Jersey Journal Great Cow Contest, then was ranked fourth by Journal readers when the contest was repeated in 1985. She was a daughter of MF Lindale Beacon Bas, with a September, 1968 USDA Sire Summary of +138M, -1F, with 42% repeatability. This proof is unadjusted for the current genetic base of the breed, and therefore cannot be directly compared to current sire evaluations. Her dam, Mayfield Dandy Prudent Lady, Very Good-84%, produced two lactations averaging 7,619-400 m.e. "Little Lady" had 10 registered progeny: seven sons and three daughters. The nomination for Beacon Bas Little Lady is on page 110 of the February, 2000 Jersey Journal. |
